In January 2015, the Grade 7s and 8s in Sherri’s class at Nelson Mandela Park Public School teamed up with long-time Regent Park residents to create the Regent Park Storymap.  On it, youth and adults share stories of the places that matter to them in the neighbourhood.  The youth learned how to make their own digital stories, taking a photo of a place that is important to them, and sharing their own personal experience of that place.  They then interviewed eleven adults, who shared stories with them of their memories before Regent Park began its revitalization process, and the youth made their digital stories for the map.  Many locations that both youth and adults share about no longer exist as they once did – which is all the more reason to have them live on with their memories.  We invite you to explore Stinky’s Store and the Peace Garden, to see the community centre being built in the 1980s, and the new one being build today.
