Event: Community Knowledge Exchange
How can a story tell us what we need to know about the value of the work we do and understand the impact of the resources we’ve committed? That was one of the big questions at the Community Knowledge Exchange Summit hosted by Community Foundations of Canada and the Ontario Trillium Foundation in November 2014. We led a One Photo One Story workshop as a special pre-conference session of the CKX Summit. The summit was a place to explore the potential of sharing community knowledge, leveraging data, stories and research to spark real social change. We presented the stories on the big screen at TIFF Bell Lightbox and celebrated with popcorn and a great discussion about using digital storytelling as a tool for evaluation. You can watch the stories here.
“Digital Storytelling gets to the ‘nitty gritty’ of why we do our work- it reminds us of the very human reason behind it, which mere numbers sometimes make us forget. It upholds the importance of qualitative outcomes.” – CKX One Photo One Story workshop participant.
